• Who We Are

We are clinicians and bodyworkers. Wellness guides, teachers, designers, creatives, mentors, and advocates. We are women who have cared for families, shaped spaces, held stories, and made room for others to find their voice.

Each of us brings her own knowledge and way of caring. Each is responsible for practicing within her training and scope. Together, we offer different ways to support the body, mind, home, and spirit.

One woman may guide through conversation. Another through touch, movement, teaching, or the careful shaping of a space. Some help make a plan. Some help create a moment of rest or connection. Each gift has its place.

LaVon Purpose is stewarded by Amani and strengthened by the women who share in this work. We bring our own voices, and we come together around a shared intention: care that makes room for every part of your story.

    Amani

    Founder & Guide

Amani founded LaVon Purpose to create the kind of care she believes women and families deserve: personal, thoughtful, and woven into real life.

She is a mother of four. Motherhood taught her how much can be carried at once, and how meaningful it is to have someone show up with steadiness, practical help, and room to breathe.

Amani holds a BA in Marketing and associate degrees in Business Management and Social & Behavioral Sciences. Her training includes birth and postpartum doula care, childbirth education, lactation support, womb wellness, life coaching, Reiki, and CPR instruction. She continues to study women’s health and holistic practices, and works alongside licensed professionals when a person’s needs call for their expertise. Her path is leading her toward doctoral study focused on ancestral healing and relationship dynamics.

Her understanding of care also comes from living through hard seasons of her own: homelessness, heartbreak, grief, depression, and anxiety. She knows that rebuilding can take time. That experience has shaped her commitment to meeting women with compassion and without judgment.

Amani holds a particular love for Black women, in all their brilliance, tenderness, weariness, and joy. She wants them to have places where they can be heard, cared for, and free to set down some of what they carry.

Raised on 90s hip hop, neo soul, and R&B, she brings rhythm, laughter, and cultural grounding into her work. There is room here for serious conversations, and there is room for joy.

Amani sees the body, mind, home, and community as connected. She may help someone prepare for birth, care for a loved one, find ease in their space, or give shape to an idea they have been holding close. Whatever brings a person to LaVon Purpose, she begins with the belief that they deserve to be seen, safe, and honored.

She walks beside women as they find their own way forward, on purpose.

    Love

Design Consultant | Youth Development Advocate | Healing Presence Practitioner

Love brings more than twenty years of experience in education, youth advocacy, and operational support to LaVon Purpose. As a former special education teacher and now an Operations Director at a homeless shelter, she has spent much of her working life paying attention to how people experience the spaces around them. She notices when a routine creates stress, when a room needs to work differently, and when a small change could make someone’s day easier.

At LaVon Purpose, Love brings that understanding and her creative eye to Sacred Space. As a Design Consultant, she helps women and families make their spaces more useful, welcoming, and true to the people who live in them. She thinks about how a room looks and feels, but also about what needs to happen there each day. Her experience building structure and solving practical problems helps turn an idea into something people can live with.

Love brings the same attention to conversation. She gives people room to speak without interrupting or hurrying them toward an answer. When they are ready, she can help them find a clear next step.

She sees both the person and the space around them. With patience, creativity, and a steady presence, Love helps make room for life to move a little more freely.

  • Dr. Haki

Doctor of Divinity | Reiki Master | Death Doula

She earned a Doctor of Divinity degree from the University of Metaphysics and has been a certified Reiki Master since 2019. Through Reiki, sound practices, and spiritual guidance, she supports clients who are seeking a deeper connection to their inner lives.

Dr. Haki is also a death doula. She brings presence and care to people and families approaching the end of life, making room for conversation, meaning, and the wishes of the person at the center of that passage.

Her creative roots run deep. She holds a BA in Theatre and an MA in Teaching Artistry in Theatre and Dance from Wayne State University. As the founder of Sista Love Spiritual Health and Wellness Services, she has brought her love of expression, self-understanding, and spiritual care into the spaces she creates for others.

    Lauren

Home Care & Client Experience Specialist

Lauren brings experience in both hands-on care and entrepreneurship to LaVon Purpose. She has worked as a home health aide, supporting people with daily needs in their homes. She also founded and ran a fashion boutique for more than thirteen years, building a business around personal style, connection, and helping women feel confident in what they wear.

Those experiences have taught her different ways to care for someone. In a home, she understands the importance of being dependable, attentive, and respectful of a person’s routines. Through her boutique, she learned how to welcome people, get to know what they like, and help them express themselves on their own terms.

At LaVon Purpose, Lauren will bring her home care experience to Sacred Recovery & Companion Care. She also supports the way clients are welcomed and shares her eye for style and presentation across LP’s offerings.

A wife and mother of four, Lauren brings warmth, energy, and years of work she has built with her own hands. She knows how much the everyday details matter, whether she is helping someone feel at ease at home or helping a woman feel good in what she wears.

    Mara

Vocal Artist | Youth Theater Mentor

Mara has loved music and theater since childhood. She began singing in church and went on to perform in plays, musicals, competitions, and talent showcases. Each experience has helped her grow as a vocalist and find her own presence on stage.

She now works as a theater mentor in Ypsilanti, sharing that love of performance with young people. Mara knows the courage it can take to use your voice in front of others, and she brings patience and encouragement to those finding theirs.

At LaVon Purpose, Mara shares her gifts through vocal performance and singing instruction. She sees music as a way to express what words alone may not hold, and theater as a place to explore, connect, and grow in confidence.

While still in high school, Mara is also completing her first year of college. She brings dedication to her studies, her craft, and the young performers she mentors. We are glad to have her voice in the collective.
